AYSO Irvine Region 213 - Serving Irvine for 40 years

LiveScan

Per California Assembly Bill 506, all administrators, employees and regular volunteers in California MUST have a one-time background check as approved by the California Department of Justice.

In other words, board members, coaches, referees, team parents, and a few other roles need to have a Live Scan fingerprint done. Please note that Live Scans are not transferrable from another organization. (However, it should work across multiple regions within AYSO.) We are doing what we can to make this as easy as possible.

AYSO Irvine is paying for the scan. We managed to buy some vouchers that you can use so you shouldn't have to pay anything. To be issued a voucher, ask Coach Admin, Referee Admin, or CVPA, and we'll get that to you right away.

Once given a voucher, go to the specific AYSO pre-paid site. [ www.applicantservices.com/AYSO-Prepaid ] It is a very user-friendly site.

  • It will ask your 6-letter voucher code. It is case-sensitive.
  • It will ask your region number. AYSO Irvine is 11Q213.
  • It will ask your name, birthday, gender, and address.
  • It will offer you a handful of nearby LiveScan service centers. Pick one and select an appointment time.
  • Bring your Payment ID / QR code from confirmation to your appointment.
  • After 24 hours, you should be able to log in and check your status.

SafeSport

We hope this finds you safe and well. In 2021, the 2017 SafeSport Act expanded Mandated Reporters to include adults authorized to interact with children. Due to this expansion, that includes AYSO and it requires training on child abuse and mandated reporting.

As of January 1, of this year, U.S. Soccer will no longer allow equivalent training* and has mandated SafeSport training.

AYSO will comply with the federal SafeSport training requirement and integrate with the U.S. Soccer Education and Learning Center as well as their Player Health and Safety Courses.

All volunteers will need to take the full training course in the first year, which is 90 minutes, and repeat it every three years, followed by annual updates in the in-between years, which are 30 minutes.

You will be able to access the SafeSport training by following these instructions:

  1. Login to your Sports Connect account where you registered as a volunteer.
  2. Click on the volunteer tab on the left-hand side of the screen
  3. Click on SafeSport box
  4. Click on Renew and Update
  5. A screen will pop up where you will click on the “click HERE” link or copy and paste the URL into your browser to begin training

Note: Youth Volunteers (anyone under the age of majority in your state) are not required to take this training.

For more information and FAQs, please visit: https://aysovolunteers.org/safesport-mandatory-training/

If you have already taken it, those historic statuses have been brought over as of January 1, 2022 and will be reflected as a separate line item on the compliance.

*Please Note:

  • At this point, AYSO Volunteers will still need to take AYSO’s Safe Haven course until otherwise noted.
  • SafeSport is now a required certificate in the Association platform. In order to activate teams and print out official rosters your team admins will need to complete SafeSport.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and if you have any questions, you can email us.
